The first in-person gathering of Planet Sheila Majid 🪐 fans from Clubhouse. And the Queen was there!

And finally we met.

After 1.5 years of weekly virtual gatherings on Clubhouse, we finally met for the first time in person in Kuala Lumpur on September 18, 2022. Not only did we get to meet everyone in person, Dato’ Sheila Majid herself was also there with us alongside  Dato’ Acis, Jenny Chin, & Mac Chew.

Singing to Sheila.

On September 18, 2022, something momentous happened to me. Not only did I get to meet and spend time with my idol Sheila Majid, she also told me she wanted to hear me sing. And I did. Singing song in front of other fans, and most surreally, in front of Sheila herself. And did I mention Jenny Chin and Mac Chew were also there listening!!!

As if that is not enough of a mind-blowing moment for me personally, Sheila’s reaction to my singing really touched me. And yes I cried. We cried.

It is just now slowly sinking in. I will cherish this moment for the rest of my life.

Thanks to my friend Jon Low who captured this moment perfectly and beautifully. He also stayed up late editing this piece for me before a work trip today. You’ll see my giddiness all the way through the song because I can see Sheila’s reaction right in front of my eyes and I was trying to process the fact that I’m singing for Sheila!!! Thanks to Shen Vee for generously playing for me and for sharing your talent with me and the world.

But endure the giddiness, and stay until the end for Sheila’s reaction and response. That warmed my heart and my soul.

NOTE: Sheila MaJohn was my high school nickname because I used to sing so many of her songs!
